Building a Life Changing College Counseling Program
We all know the work we do each day impacts countless students. We also know that sometimes we are simply surviving, recycling what worked last year (and the year before that…and the one before that, too).
With time for thoughtful planning and mapping of college counseling curriculum at a premium, we hope you will join us for an impactful session that will help you critically evaluate the programming you have now and consider how you can update/build new programming you can implement at minimal cost tomorrow.
We will cover:
-
Impactful essay writing workshops
-
Engaging letters of recommendation
-
Group activities that work at scale
-
Creating meaningful opportunities for student self-reflection and goal setting
During this time, we will also explore how programming needs to shift based on your load, how to identify students who plan to pursue college seriously, how to scaffold resources to make them more accessible for your families, and provide intentional time for you to plan.
Please join us for this fast-paced, information filled session to start your conference off on the right foot!

Middle Management Institute - James Powell
GPACAC is excited to offer a Middle Management Institute (MMI) for one of our preconference opportunities in Oklahoma City. MMI is specifically designed for current and aspiring middle managers in the college admissions setting to learn more about the opportunities, challenges and skills involved in these critical roles. Potential focus areas this spring may include coaching and team development, data-informed decision making, managing up, and building partnerships as a middle manager. More information, including institute leaders and firm session topics, will be available soon!
These sessions will run from 1:00-4:00 PM on Wednesday, April 7th, 2027 prior to the start of Conference. We hope you will consider joining us early for this amazing opportunity to strengthen your advocacy skills to better support our students and colleagues.
